The Summer time is an exciting time of year for kids, but it can be a time of panic for parents! How will you keep your kids busy for 8 + hours a day? We’re here to give you some helpful tips on what you can do to keep your kids entertained and active this summer!
1. Summer Camps and Sports Programs
Look in your town directory for summer camp programs, they are a great way to keep your kids busy, they often go full or half days Monday-Fridays. Your child can learn to cook, dance, swim and more!
Sign your kid up for an extra class at The FIT Potato. Do they want to focus more on running? Join the Summer 100 MILE Challenge.
2. Volunteer/ Community Work
This is a great time to contribute to the town you live in. Participate in food drive fundraisers, creek clean-ups or volunteer at a senior center. Your kids will come back feeling like they’ve done a good deed, and appreciate the community they live in and the people around them. It also looks really good on your resume!
3. Internship or Part-Time Job for Teens
Don’t waste these precious 3 months on just sitting on the couch and playing video games. The summer is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people. For the teenagers in your house-hold this is a chance to start considering which colleges they’d like to visit, setting up job shadowing opportunities, internships, or getting a part-time job to learn new skills.
4. Book Reports
Have your kids pick out some books to read over the summer. Have them do a few book reports. This will help kids with their reading comprehension, public speaking skills and keep them entertained!
5. The FIT Potato Summer Kids Challenge!
All summer long we will be hosting two summer challenges! One is the 100-mile running challenge, and the Bootcamp Summer Series Challenge. Check our social media pages for more information on how the challenges work!
